HOW TO BRING TARNISHED JEWELLERY BACK TO LIFE

Rise and Shine! With the neo-bohemian trend taking centre stage, it’s been hard to ignore the fact that flashy accessories in mixed metals and blinding silvers adorn every stylista’s wrists, necks, ears and waists. However, have you ever noticed that, over time, some of your silver or silver-plated jewellery can become discoloured and tarnished?

Silver plated jewellery, like silverware, will tarnish when exposed to air (That is why our grandmothers used to polish the silverware weekly and also why everyone moved to flatware made of stainless steel in the 60’s). All jewellery stores that carry true silver spend most of their day polishing the silver jewellery.

Tarnish is a layer of superficial corrosion that develops and destroys the luster of the silver making it look dull. Degrees of tarnish will vary.

The removal of the tarnishing is as simple as a rub of the finger!

A simple rub of the thumb will bring the silver back. You can also use a jewellery polishing cloth to wipe and polish the corrosion away.

We E-coat (electroplate) our jewellery so the resistance to tarnishing is about three months. After that time, exposure to air will tarnish the silver.

Voila! Your precious earrings look as good as new and your favourite silver jewellery is brought back to life!
